Sanger PD arrest burglary suspects

At approximately 1:44 a.m., on October 9, 2023, Sanger Police Department officers Pruett, Scott, and Trevino were dispatched to a reported burglary in progress on Heron Drive in the Sable Creek sub-division. The complainant informed officers that an unknown male wearing a dark hoodie was captured on their security camera attempting to burglarize their vehicle in the driveway.

According to a release by the Sanger Department, upon receiving the call, Sanger officers swiftly arrived at the location and established a perimeter with the collaboration of the Denton County Sheriff’s Office and the Pilot Point Police Department. Two individuals, previously known to the Sanger Police Department for late-night walks, were promptly located.

One of the subjects, who had been arrested in September 2022 for Burglary of a Vehicle and Evading Arrest, was detained. A third subject, wearing a black hoodie, was discovered concealed in the bushes south of the Butterfield Elementary playground. Initially apprehended for Attempted Burglary of a Vehicle, this subject later confessed to the actual burglary of at least one vehicle. The specific vehicle(s) have not been identified yet.

The detained subject was associated with the arrested individual, but both declined to provide information on each other. The detained subject was eventually transported to Gainesville and released. The arrested subject was taken into custody and placed in the Denton County Jail on charges of Burglary of a Vehicle.
