Sanger Lions Club Honored with Lions Club of the Year Award
The Sanger Lions Club has been honored with the prestigious Lions Club of the Year Award for Lions District 2E2. This district includes 56 clubs located geographically in the Fort Worth and North Central Texas area, extending as far north as the Red River. This award recognizes the club's outstanding efforts, including the new "CUB Club" Young Leaders / SISD Heart of Gold Program, and their many Community Service projects in the Sanger area.
The "CUB Club" engages children ages 2-12 while the Future Lions engages ages 13-17 alongside their families and other Lions Club members in community outreach projects. The Young Leaders in Service Program involves high school students aiming to build their personal profiles through community service hours, which are beneficial when applying for college, trade schools, and entering the workforce.
Lions District Governor Woody Matthes remarked, “The Sanger Lions Club is transforming how we grow our membership. By inviting young families to participate in community outreach projects, both parents and children are enjoying the opportunity to give back to the community, which has led to increased interest in joining the Lions and CUB clubs.”
Local Lions President Brad Allison received an International Leadership Award in March this year from International President Dr. Patti Hill. Reflecting on the honor, Brad Allison said, “I am thrilled with the growth of our club. We've welcomed 12 new members, 10 children into the CUB program, and now have 50 students involved in the Young Leaders in Service Program, who have collectively logged 300 hours of community service in the past twelve months.”
Looking forward, the Sanger Lions Club has exciting new projects planned for this fall, including the Purple Bus Adventurers Club fundraiser and the Lions Club Turtle Derby fundraiser. The Club is happy to announce that they have opened the CUB club and Future Lions to children with special needs.
