Sanger Economic Development recently announced an exciting collaboration: Pepper Belly BBQ is moving to Uptown Rail Brewery, with construction set to begin soon. The restaurant will continue operating at its current location until the new site is ready.
Pepper Belly is currently located just west of Sanger High School (SHS) and Sanger Middle School (SMS) on FM 455 in the recognizable red food trailer. It will be relocating to downtown Sanger, specifically behind Uptown Rail Brewery in the right silo (as shown in the picture above). Drew Hall Custom Homes will be completing the renovations of the silo. The goal is to have the new location open in 2-3 months.
Owner Leonard Dodson will have his smokers on-site on Cherry Street and will maintain his regular lunch hours. He plans to keep the restaurant open on Friday and Saturday evenings and hopes to extend hours during the week as well. “This next chapter is a huge step for us, and it wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of our community and the generosity of Todd and Vanessa Benson, owners of Uptown Rail Brewery. While our location is changing, everything you love about Pepper Belly remains the same—slow-smoked BBQ, signature flavors, and the heartfelt passion put into every plate. Partnering with Uptown Rail Brewery allows us to serve great food alongside great brews in a welcoming space made for friends, family, and good times,” said Leonard and Stefani Dodson. “A heartfelt thank you to everyone who’s stood by us, enjoyed our BBQ, and helped us grow into what we are today. We can’t wait to welcome you to our new home and continue serving the BBQ you know and love.”
Meanwhile, Uptown Rail Brewery will continue to serve its full menu, which includes brick oven pizza, wings, salads, sandwiches, appetizers and more. The ice cream shop next to the brewery will also remain open.
Uptown will continue to offer food trucks on site, which include Asian Fusion, Jones BBQ, Oscar’s Street Tacos, to name a few.
