This summer has been incredibly busy for Sanger ISD administrators as they prepare for the transition to a new facility. The new Sanger High School has been gearing up for its Welcome Back Campus Night, where students will have the opportunity to explore the impressive new building. The campus is set to welcome students on the first day of school, Monday, August 4, though final construction touch-ups will continue throughout the first month.
According to Superintendent Dr. Tommy Hunter, SHS teachers will only have a day and a half for staff development to give them time to settle in, unpack, and prepare their classrooms. Dr. Hunter emphasizes the importance of "patience" during this busy time for teachers, students, and parents. With a new campus opening, the usual chaos of the first week is sure to be amplified.
Having toured the new facility, The Sanger News found it to be a phenomenal, state-of-the-art campus designed to serve a diverse student population, whether they are preparing for college or entering a trade. The high school offers a wide range of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, including Animal Science, Audio & Video Production, Automotive Technology, Business Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Education and Training, Engineering (including Robotics and Drone technology), Emergency Services, Exercise & Wellness, Graphic Design, Health Sciences, Plant Science, and Welding.
However, the transition isn’t limited to just Sanger High School. Sanger Middle School (serving grades 6-8) has moved into the former high school building next door, while Linda Tutt High School has relocated to the old middle school. Additionally, Tenderfoot, the district daycare, is now housed in the former Linda Tutt High School, which has become the new CTE Cosmetology building. Meanwhile, the CTE Automotive Technology program has moved to the old middle school’s athletic wing.
With the start of school approaching, be sure to check out the school calendar and stay informed about all announcements in this week’s edition of The Sanger News.
