Election for Councilmembers Places 1,3 & 5

The City Council consists of a Mayor and five Council Members, all of whom are elected at large. Positions are numbered one through five consecutively. The terms of the Mayor and Council members shall be for two years. The Mayor and Council Places 2 and 4, shall be elected in even numbered years, and Council Places 1, 3, and 5 shall be elected in odd numbered years. Regular City Council Meetings are on the first and third Monday of every month, unless the meeting falls on a holiday which then moves the meeting to Tuesday. 

Date and Location of next Municipal Election:

The next City of Sanger General Election will be held on May 3, 2025, to elect Councilmembers for Place 1, Place 3 and Place 5 for a two-year term.

The main Early Voting polling place is Denton County Elections Administration, located at 701 Kimberly Dr., Denton, TX 76208, room A111.

Filing for a Place on the Ballot:

First Day to file an application for a place on the ballot is January 15, 2025

Last Day to file an application for a place on the ballot is February 14, 2025

Qualifications / Eligibility to File

City of Sanger Home Rule Charter Section 3.04 Code of Ordinances; Each candidate for an elective office shall meet the following qualifications: Be a qualified voter; Be 21 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable; Must have resided in the State for twelve months and within the City limits for twelve months immediately preceding the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot; Shall not be employed by the City; Shall meet all other eligibility requirements of the Texas Election Code
