The City of Sanger has announced a public meeting to discuss the Marion Road Reconstruction project. Marion Road is located on East Chapman Drive, directly across from the new Sanger High School. It extends from Chapman (FM 455E) to Lois Road. The current road is narrow, with deep ditches on either side, which can put stress on vehicle suspensions and tires. This road also services two large housing developments, as well as townhomes and apartments, and provides access to more rural housing areas northward, from Lois Road to Chisam Road.
It has been patched several times the last five years. The deteriorating road couldn’t be addressed more by the City of Sanger with their street rehabilitation projects they started in 2020, because they had to wait for it to be approved as part of the Denton County Road Bonds.

This project is overseen by both the City of Sanger and Denton County and represents one of the city's most significant street infrastructure initiatives. Unlike a simple repaving project, this endeavor involves a complete reconstruction to create a four-lane undivided roadway.
On December 19, 2023, the Sanger City Council approved an Interlocal Agreement with Denton County. This agreement aimed to provide engineering, right-of-way acquisitions, utility relocations, inspections, and construction for Marion Road, which will feature underground drainage from East Chapman Drive to Lois Road. Additionally, sidewalks will be included in the design.
This project is part of the approved Denton County Road Bonds.
A brief PowerPoint presentation will initiate the meeting on Tuesday, September 23, at 6:00 PM at the Old Historic Church, located at 403 N. 7th Street, Sanger. Residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the Marion Road Reconstruction project and share their feedback.
What to expect: A partial design will be displayed, and time will be allocated for questions and answers, as well as opportunities to approach the boards and speak with the project team. There will be a sign-in sheet and comment forms available to gather your input. The City of Sanger values your questions and suggestions, which will help shape the final design. They hope to see you there!
