City of Sanger and Sanger ISD to hold public hearings on proposed tax rate

The City of Sanger is proposing the same tax rate as last year ($0.689747 per $100). Their first public hearing was held Monday, August 10. The second public hearing will take place Monday, August 17 at 7 p.m. at 403 N. 7th Street in Sanger. The meeting will include the City’s budget that determines the tax rate that will be adopted. The public is invited to attend.
Although the rate is the same as last year, there could a slight increase on existing properties, if the Denton County Property Tax Appraisal on your home, increased. The City will have more total property tax revenue from new construction and growth, as well.

Sanger ISD will hold a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on August 26, 2026 in the Sixth Grade (Old Campus) Cafeteria at 508 7th Street in Sanger. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the school district’s budget that will determine the tax rate that will be adopted. Public participation in the discussion is invited.
The proposed tax rate is $0.7469 and the rate last year was $0.7291. See the breakdown of the proposed tax rate on page 9:
