A warm welcome was extended to the Sanger, TX Senior Center in downtown Sanger on Thursday, May 7 during their Ribbon Cutting at the corner of 2nd & Bolivar. The Sanger City Council, including outgoing Mayor Muir and at least three council members, attended, while Mayor Elect Bilyeu also stopped by during the Open House. Members of the Sanger Chamber, alongside seniors from Sanger, Bolivar, Krum, and Valley View, gathered to witness the Chamber-hosted Ribbon Cutting ceremony.

Many people enjoyed the Open House Event that followed. SSC Board members greeted attendees and offered a brief tour of the new facility. The new SSC facility includes a fully equipped kitchen, a social area for games and cards, and a dedicated exercise space with several pieces of equipment. There are also a couple of multi-purpose rooms available for craft classes, tech support, or small group meetings. Additionally, there is a puzzle room featuring a lending library of puzzles.

One of the highlights of the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was presenting a Plaque of Appreciation to Ms. Peggy Williams, recognizing her years of dedicated service to the former senior center and her active role in developing the new one, as well as her advisory position on the current Board. Additionally, the senior center’s social room was dedicated as "Peggy’s Room" in her honor.

The SSC Board has many to thank for their role in the success of the event and their assistance in supporting the opening of the center itself. The following donated items to furnish the SSC: Carie Pool Roy & Mark Roy; Synergy Home Care; William Morgan; Kimberly Weakley; State Rep. Andy Hopper; Edward Jones, Sanger & Gainesville; Sanger Wellness Center; Sherri Gideon; Dawn & Dennis Hendon; & Phyllis Pittman. Sponsoring the Open House: Tom Thumb (food & water); Chicken Express (tea); Riley’s Room (balloon bouquets); & Everythaang Gifts (for making Peggy’s moment so special); and our raffle sponsors (Gypsy Cowgirl/Vintage Variety/Salt & Cedar/Scentsy). If your name was omitted, our sincere apologies for missing naming you and please know that all donations were accepted with sincerest gratitude. Also, an acknowledgement to the vendors present: Synergy Home Care/ D & D Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy/S & J Pharmacy/Visiting Nurses Association/American Senior Benefits/Ridge Point in Pilot Point/ & Legal Shield & ID Shield.

The Sanger, TX Senior Center’s basic schedule programming will begin on May 18th. Membership is open to residents in Sanger, Bolivar, Krum, & Valley View. Please see the chart provided for opening hours and information regarding membership.
