American Legion Post 268 celebrates four years as part of the Sanger Community
American Legion Post 268 was established in February of 2019 in Sanger, Texas. Post 268 held it's monthly meeting on February 19, 2023 and as part of the meeting and to celebrate four years in Sanger members enjoyed chili and cornbread during their meeting while visiting with other members and conducted their meeting at the same time. Post 268 is very active in the Sanger Community and participates in many activities as part of the community.
Post 268 activities include the following: Post 268 recognizes the Police Officer and Firefighter of the year in January and presents plaques to each at the City Council meeting. Post 268 collects old worn out American flags and holds a flag retirement ceremony. Post 268 sponsors and mentors a cub scout group in Sanger, Texas. Post 268 places flags at the headstones of Veterans in the Sanger Cemetery for Veterans Day and host a luncheon for Veterans on the same day. Post 268 host the American Legion Classic Car Show in October. Post 268 recognizes and presents awards to graduating Seniors at Sanger High school. Post 268 sponsors a Junior boy from Sanger High school to attend American Legion Boy's State in Austin, Texas in the summer. Post 268 participates in the annual Sanger Sellabration each year. Post 268 assist local Veterans with different issues throughout the year. Post 268 purchases the large American and Texas Flags and donates them to the Sanger cemetery when the current flags are at the end of their usefulness. Post 268 welcomes Veterans from all branches of the military to be a part of the American legion family here in and around Sanger, Texas. We would encourage Veterans who have served their country to attend a meeting of Post 268 and to join the American Legion.
Post 268 meets on the third Sunday of each month at the Chamber of Commerce building on Bolivar street in Sanger. The General meeting starts at 3:00 and usually last about an hour.
Any Veteran of any branch is welcome to become a member of Post 268 with a DD 214 showing you received an Honorable discharge from the military.
Post 268 also has an American Legion Riders group that any Veteran who joins Post 268 can also become a member of the Riders group and they participate in different functions with the Riders as well.
