Homecoming is this week. SHS classes from 1959, 1969, 1979, 1989, 1999 and 2009 are highlighted inside this edition of the Sanger News on pages 6-16. The weekend begins with the Friday night (Sept. 20) football game between Sanger and Mineral Wells at 7:30 p.m. The SHS band will perform before the game. At halftime, after Mineral Wells’ band finishes, the SHS homecoming king, queen and football sweetheart seniors will be crowned. The homecoming court will feature the freshman, sophomore and junior prince and princess .

The parade will once again, line up at the First Baptist Church on Saturday, September 21. The Theme: “Decades” should be an interesting theme for everyone to remember the past. The parade set up and line up will begin at 9:00 a.m. Line up will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the parade beginning at 10:00 a.m. The route will travel from FBC-Sanger to 2nd Street, North on 2nd to Elm, West on Elm, South on 5th, East on Bolivar (Downtown), back to 3rd, where participants can head back to FBC-Sanger.

Important information**** First Baptist Church cannot hold 18-wheelers. If you have an 18-wheeler, you must remain on the street through the line up process.

The Class of 1969 will be the grand marshall this year. All other floats will follow behind in a first come basis. Horses, bikes, and scooters will be at the end of the parade. Please be safe and courteous through the line up process.

If you have any questions about the parade, contact Mrs. Carly Sperry, Student Council Sponsor at 940-458-7497 ext. 257 or email her at: carly.sperry@sangerisd.net.

Immediately after the parade, everyone is invited to make their way to the High School Cafeteria for the annual Ex-Student luncheon. Once again this year, Pepper Belly BBQ will serve the meal and a short business meeting will follow. The cost is $15.00 per person. There is still time to make a reservation. Call Norma Ready Nelson at 940-458-7526 or Linda Harvey Hewlett at 940-458-7497.

“We are excited for everyone to come to all the weekend festivities and look forward to having a great time with former classmates making lots of special memories,” said Beverly Romines Howard.
