DATCU Credit Union donates $250,000 to Sanger ISD

DATCU Credit Union representatives present a check to the Sanger ISD administrators and school board.

“DATCU has long been dedicated to helping our schools, educators, and students. This $250,000 donation to the Sanger Independent School District will produce dividends for students and teachers for many years to come,” said Glen McKenzie, President/CEO of DATCU. Sanger ISD is currently negotiating to purchase a video scoreboard for Indian Stadium in Sanger. A digital scoreboard will provide local community businesses, including financial institutions, the opportunity to advertise and promote their products and services. The district intends to enhance their curriculum enabling district students to gain real world, hands-on experience producing content and ads; This may be invaluable experience in future career paths. Proceeds from scoreboard advertising will go back to the Sanger Education Foundation benefiting both students and teachers. Sanger ISD’s Superintendent, Dr. Sandra McCoy-Jackson, said, “We, at Sanger ISD, are excited to have received the generous gift from DATCU. Their gift will enhance the lives of many as it will give our students opportunities that we would not be able to afford…we are thrilled that the DATCU Organization is able to provide us with this much needed support for our Career and Technology Educational Programs”. The DATCU donation is an incredible opportunity for Sanger ISD and further demonstrates DATCU’S desire and commitment in supporting student’s overall academic learning and achievement. The support of DATCU and this initiative, will take student success to a whole new higher level of learning, by providing hands on practical applications within Sanger ISD. First, the donation is centered on DATCU understanding that students of today need a vast array of learning opportunities to develop their classroom skills in an applicable environment. The donation specifically centers on Sanger ISD having a Video Scoreboard at Indian Stadium, creating the ability and platform to showcase classroom learning through the Career and Technical Education department. The DATCU donation supports and encourages partnering school districts in creating future and evolving existing Career and Technical learning pathways that could include Video/Audio Production, Animation, Graphic Design, and Business, Marketing and Finance. “The Career and Technical Department at Sanger High School is excited about the real world applications this project will bring for our students within a multitude of career paths, and we look forward to seeing what the future has in store.” The revenue generated from the local business community, by having a new student centered advertising opportunity, will generate additional revenue which will flow through the Sanger Education Foundation, for awarding Student Scholarships and Instructional Grant awards. This 10 year agreement with DATCU, Sanger ISD and the Sanger Education Foundation will directly impact student learning and the Sanger Community.
