SHS Indians baseball advances in playoffs and to face Alvarado Indians in next round

SSC GAME RECAP – WALK-OFF WIN!

The SHS varsity baseball Indians weren’t done yet. They needed to win games two and three in the best of three series with Prosper Richland on Saturday. And they did it. Sanger lost game one 3-2 last Wednesday and games 2 and 3 were held at Sanger High School. In game 2, Sanger battled back and WALKS IT OFF 7-6 over Prosper Richland in Game 2 to force a decisive Game 3!

Down 6-5 in the bottom of the 7th, the Indians showed grit at the plate—Riley Tarwater gets it started, Maddox VanderRoest delivers in the clutch to tie it up, and with the bases loaded… Logan Hendricks draws the walk-off RBI to seal it. Ice. Cold.

• Riley Tarwater – Perfect day at the plate, sparked the rally

• Logan Swofford – Tough AB, HBP in crunch time

• Luke Hendricks – RBI + clutch walk to load the bases

That win forced Game 3… and from there, it was all Sanger.

The Indians came out firing on all cylinders, exploding offensively and dominating on the mound in an 18-1 run-rule victory to close out the series.

Maddux VandeRoest led the charge offensively with a huge day at the plate, while Luke Hendricks, Riley Tarwater, and Kale Barr all contributed to the offensive onslaught. On the mound, Michael McKeown and Kale Barr combined for a dominant performance to slam the door.

FINAL: Sanger wins the series 2-1

Sanger will play the Alvarado Indians on Thursday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Alvarado HS; Game 2 will be played Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m. at Sanger HS; Game 3 (if necessary) will be played at Ft. Worth Brewer on Saturday, May 9 at 1 p.m. They will flip for home.
